Bòlit, one of the most innovative benchmark centres in the new AECID publication

The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation's Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) has just published the book Nuevos centros culturales para el siglo XXI en España. Consenso y conflicto (New Cultural Centres for the 21st Century in Spain. Consensus and Conflict), based on research carried out by Jorge Fernández León, Deputy Minister of Culture for the Government of Asturias. The book describes the current scene of leading cultural centres in Spain noted for their innovation and discourse above and beyond promotion and includes Bòlit among the sixteen centres included.

In addition to Bòlit. Contemporary Art Centre. Girona, this selection includes other art centres, museums and contemporary art spaces, such as the MACBA (Barcelona Contemporary Art Museum), MUSAC (León Contemporary Art Museum), MNCARS (Reina Sofía National Museum and Art Centre in Madrid), La Casa Encendida (Madrid), La Laboral (Gijón), Matadero (Madrid), Tabakalera (San Sebastián), Andalusian Contemporary Art Centre (Seville), CCCB (Barcelona Contemporary Culture Centre), Montehermoso Cultural Centre (Vitoria-Gasteiz), CGAC (Galician Contemporary Art Centre in Santiago de Compostela) and Espai d'Art de Castelló (Contemporary Art Space).

Each of these centres is noted for its model, main lines of work and programme of activities, with additional visual information.
